Tangem, a prominent crypto cold wallet provider, is expanding its support for the Shiba Inu ecosystem by starting the process of integrating the layer-2 network Shibarium.
The team behind Tangem disclosed this in a recent post on X, generating massive excitement among Shiba Inu proponents. The move comes a few months after the wallet provider partnered with the Shiba Inu ecosystem for a SHIB-branded wallet project.
Hey there! Just dropping in to let you know that we\'ve started integrating the Shibarium Network.

Notably, this development is pivotal because it would allow Tangem users to leverage the unique features of the Shibarium network, including low cost and fast transactions. The move would also give users an opportunity to store Shibarium-based tokens, including NFTs such as Shiboshis.
Crypto proponents have shown increased interest in hardware wallets since the collapse of FTX, which resulted in losses to the tune of billions. The FTX implosion exposed the need for self-custody solution, which allows investors to hold the private key to their assets.
According to Tangem, the integration process has already begun but would likely complete by the end of this month. Information from the wallet provider’s blog outlines a complicated process involved in blockchain integration.
This process features multiple steps, which include finding the proper API, turning the public key into an address by encoding it, fetching required data from the API and executing a transaction, and putting together a transaction.
After the team has completed the integration process, they would test and launch an app update containing the newly-integrated network. The Shibarium integration process would follow these steps. The recent disclosure is to inform the Shiba Inu community that they have now begun the process.
The Tangem x Shiba Inu Relationship
Notably, Tangem has continued to engage the Shiba Inu community, gathering data on demands from SHIB proponents. The suggestions to integrate Shibarium came on the back of the Tangem x Shiba Inu collaboration, which led to the launch of the SHIB-branded Tangem wallets.
The Shiba Inu ecosystem team first teased the development of the SHIB-branded wallets last May, capturing the community’s anticipation. Shortly after the teasers, Tangem was revealed as the firm behind the project, as the team opened the window for preorders.
The wallet recorded massive success, resulting in a healthy relationship between the wallet provider and the SHIB Army. At the heart of the Shiba Inu x Tangem campaign last year, Tangem disclosed in a blog release last November that the next step for them is to integrate Shibarium.
Tangem also collaborated with Shiba Inu’s partner Bad Idea AI last October for 350 unique hardware wallets. The latest development comes a week after market tracking resources CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko integrated Shibarium.
